It is important to determine what your web hosting requirements are before deciding which type of services you will need in order to avoid wasting money. The type of hosting you choose will depend upon whether your website is for business or for a hobby. Different types of website will require different types of software which needs to be compatible with the hosting company systems.

The type of website you have will also dictate the amount of storage space and memory you need. When you have shared hosting you will have restricted storage as you are sharing resources with many other users.

The major benefit of virtual servers is the cost, as you are receiving the benefits of dedicated hosting whilst paying much less. In the current financial climate, keeping an eye on your costs is more important than ever before.

Selecting a domain name that reflects the nature of your website or business is a good idea so that people are more likely to remember it. If a domain name is memorable to a customer then they are more likely to visit your website again, if it is a confusing or irrelevant domain name (such as your initials) then visitors are unlikely to remember it.
